Investment opportunities in the cold fusion energy
Investment opportunities in the cold fusion energy
Historically, most people acknowledge the general beliefs of others in their understanding of world around them. Man has always tried to live and learn to accept things in the world as they are, without much questioning. There are always a few who are different. They are seen as crazy and perhaps dangerous or threatening. They have unacceptable ideas, and many put in years of study and work on ridiculous contraptions to reach impossible dreams. Looking back at history, these were the people who made discoveries, presented new ideas and created inventions that changed our world for the better. During the course of their lives, they were viewed at best, as simpletons and wastrels of time and resources. Even when they made a breakthrough towards their ultimate achievement, they were still maligned. They were called charlatan, frauds, heretics and scam artists. They were sometimes imprisoned for their ideas, sometimes stoned or burned at the stake for heresy. Some of these only gained vindication and honors they deserved, long after they had been dead for years.
Scientists still have this problem. At least they do not need to worry as much about being burned at the stake in most countries. They are still ridiculed, disparaged and called names when they present ideas or results that are contrary to accepted opinions. This is what has happened to Andrea Rossi when he and Sergio Focardi after years of working with Cold Fusion, released public information on their Energy Catalyzer LENR device. Dr. Rossi had already been both persecuted and prosecuted in his
quest to bring clean energy to the world.
Dr. Andrea Rossi, success and persecution:
Before considering Cold Fusion, Rossi’s genius began to show itself in the 1970s. Combining his studies with his mechanical knowledge and factory experience, Mr. Rossi began to implement his ideas on recovering energy from waste. He designed and patented a waste incinerator with energy recovery and started a production division, Dragon, in his family factory. He endeavored to take his understanding of natures process’ to turn organic compounds into fuel. His goal was to produce liquid fuel, to eliminate the need for extracted oil. His company Petrodragon began using municipal waste and the first attempts turned 10 tons of organic waste (paper, wood, food waste, plastic) into two tons of oil. By 1978 it was a working technology. He continued his education along the lines of his research and development and received a degree in Chemistry, along with his PhD.
Soon the new product, Refluopetrolio, captured the interest of the world, even the interest of
U.S. President Jimmy Carter. With more investment he was producing twenty tons of fuel oil per day, from 100 tons of organic waste. Most of the customers for his product were refineries. He wanted to take his production to a higher level and in 1990 he bought his own refinery, Omar refinery. As he learned more about energy Mr. Rossi again considered automobile fuel and started testing the idea using old fiat racing cars. Their company became one of the first pioneers in bio-diesel. Suddenly, Mr. Rossi and his companies were a big threat to the
fossil fuel industry. Unbeknownst to him they were also an opportunity for the Camorra, who ended up taking over the waste management industry after the demise of the Rossi Companies.
Without explanation, the Government declared all secondary waste generated materials, like the original derived fuel oil, to be toxic waste. Consequently, the refined product was also considered toxic waste. Despite having paid the Italian State billions of Lira in taxes, including fuel tax, they back-dated the law and declared his operations illegal. Thus, Dr. Rossi became a prosecuted criminal with endless arrests and court appearances. All the industry property was seized and everything that ever had the fuel oil in it, was now a "toxic waste dump." Although he was vindicated in the courts he lost everything and ended up with huge bankruptcy debt. He migrated to the USA to work and managed to find a viable company. With his patents and engineering experience he helped develop the biomass energy in the USA and works hand in hand with the Department of Defense to produce renewable energy.
Opposition to innovation:
In some cases scientists are their own worst enemies. Even though they are in the “brotherhood” of scientific inquiry, they are still in competition with each other for funding and for recognition. Therefore that makes them the most severe of critics. There are many disputes for patenting of similar processes or inventions. Sometimes suspicion and jealousy also colors their opinions of each other.
Governments are in some cases, causing part of the problems for “new“ scientific achievements. Government agencies and public Universities fund a great deal of scientific research. Through these they also control the best known and most respected scientific journals. If an independent researcher has a research paper or a discovery to publish that proposes something contrary to mainstream thought, it may very likely be ignored. This has been the case with Cold Fusion. Nuclear power using nuclear fission, employs research and facilities around the world. Despite the enormous expense, the dangers inherent in system failure and problematic radioactive waste disposal, they have been financed and supported by governments worldwide.
For over thirty years cold fusion research and experimentation has taken a back-seat and has been unfunded or blocked. Respected scientists, like Martin Fleischmann and Stanley Pons felt the brunt of this rejection. They were first hailed for their amazing progress towards clean “Cold Fusion” LENR energy. After which, they found other mainstream scientists unwilling to validate their findings. Government intervention targeted their
research which was deprecated as unpractical and they lost support of their institutions. Dr. Eugene Mallove, a cold fusion expert and Professor at MIT, was one Cold Fusion supporter. He founded the New Energy Foundation, a non-profit corporation and has published articles on various LENR technology. He single handedly exposed the fact that MIT had altered data to discredit Fleischmann and Pons and to conclude that there was no excess heat reaction. They called the discovery a possible fraud, scam, and “voodoo science.” He resigned his post at MIT in protest. It seems that this technology could have threatened to divert Congressional funding from the hot fusion program. The consequences of the USA Fleischmann and Ponds final report November1, 1989, were:
(1) No special funding by the U.S. government for further research;
(2) Flat denial by the U.S. Patent Office of any application mentioning cold fusion;
(3) Suppression of research on the phenomenon in government laboratories;
(4) Citation of cold fusion as “pathological science” or “fraud” in
books and articles critical of cold fusion in general, and of Fleischmann and Pons in particular.
Not only did they stop their team’s work, but successfully “banned” or discouraged further research in this area for years. If that intervention had not taken place where would this technology have been after these twenty-two years?
Someone has finally bridged this gap and brought us back Cold Fusion, or Low Energy Nuclear Reaction. Still, in spite of nuclear disasters and increasing nuclear waste, these few proponents of the new Nickel Hydrogen fusion, devices are still being attacked by detractors. However; The Rossi E-Cat is finding that one by one the scientists in the
European community are coming to accept that this technology is real, and that it brings a bright new dimension to the future of the “clean and green” energy. Some vindication has come their way, but the honors for their extraordinary work, are still yet to come.
On July 27th Prof. Martin Fleschmann was interviewed after viewing a video of the E-Cat in production. He was asked: “Are you happy about this”? Fleischmann nodded and laughed. “Very happy,” he replied.
